A deep retrofit or uprgade is one that goes beyond just the surface of the issue. Rather than attacking the most obvious culprit, this approach goes deeper, ensuring entirely better building performance. Good building performance upgrades should improve all aspects of a building from a comfort, air quality and energy efficiency standpoint.
